Cerione, Georgia
CWS Finalist

FIRST COUGAR PLAYING IN DIVISION I CHAMPIONSHIP
The Georgia Bulldogs, with Cougar Matt Cerione starting in center field, were the College World Series finalist, losing two out of three games to champion Fresno State.

Cerione scored the winning run in the first game of the championship series, capping a four-run comeback in the eighth inning. He also drove in two runs. Against Stanford, Cerione, went 2 for 3, driving in the winning and tying runs in a 4-3 victory. He also doubled in Georgia's first run.

UGA eliminated Stanford in two games. They also defeated Miami.

On the way to the College World Series, 2006 Chattahoochee grad Cerione faced – and prevailed against – former Hooch teammate, NC State’s Clayton Shunick. Cerione is the first Cougar to play in the CWS.
